The walls of Dubrovnik
Our days in Dubrovnik are coming to an end. The work on the boat is almost finished and GINA is ready for a long winter sleep. Only a couple of days ago we noticed that while we have been in Dubrovnik very often we never did the famous and touristy walk of the city walls. I have to admit i try to avoid the usual tourist attraction but "hey" the weather was beautiful and we deserved a rest day after the long and hard work on the boat.
You can access the city wall by climbing up some stairs and then you walk along this, up to 4m thick and sometimes 22 meters, high wall. The wall as it was a protection for the old town goes all around the historical part of Dubrovnik.
The views are absolutely spectacular and endless especially when the wall follows the coastline and faces the always amazing Mediterranean Sea.
You will climb endless stairs, see fortifications and towers, hidden windows and deep cellars. This walk is a real adventure having the history of the place really close and it is easy to imagine how hard and rough the life has been behind these wall ages ago.
If you are a fan of the TV series "Game of Thrones" well then Dubrovnik and those walls have been the set for many scenes and you might recognize parts of it.
We can only recommend you this "climb" it is a stunning way to see Dubrovnik combined with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea.
