Strida bicycle on a boat
All boat owner know the moment after mooring we wish to have some kind of transport to go provisioning or just check out the surroundings. A lot of us use bicycles but storing them on a sailboat is not so easy. So the trick is, “origami” bikes. Just joking we all look for folding bicycles and while brands like Brompton and Dahon are well known I want to give you an opinion about Strida bikes.
They are very well made, fold really small, still roll while folded so it’s very easy to transport them. Once stored a bike is the size of a small golf bag. There is more, for example they have a belt instead of a chain, so no grease, no dirt and no rust. They come with disc brakes and lots of aluminum parts. Perfect for a boat and the marine environment. The riding position looks awkward but it’s not and I feel comfortable even with my height of 1.85 meter. Check out the website as they have lots of models and accessories.
Once this bike fell in the sea but even after a year there was still no major rust.
Moments after the recovery.
